What is the Off-Screen Marker and how do I track clanmates on screen?

The setting is at Settings → Basic → In Game Display → Off-Screen Marker, and it can be changed during a match too.

• Off-Screen Marker: When enabled, directional markers appear on the screen edges to indicate where your teammates are when they are outside your field of view, helping you track them without turning the camera or opening the map.
